You can fund your projects, your interests, your ambitions.

Crowdfunding is sponsorship by a crowd of many donors, each making an individual, small donation in return for a small reward, like a thank you card, social media shout out, invitation to a free event or a project poster. It works really well for universities because there are large groups of people who want to see your projects succeed, such as alumni, colleagues, or your friends and family.
Your sponsors will be individuals such as alumni, colleagues, friends, and family. Occasionally, they may also be complete strangers! How many people your project reaches is up to you!
Yes! There is no ceiling to how much you can raise and it is common for projects to raise more than their minimum and sometimes more than their funding target!
We ask you for two amounts - the minimum you need, and your ultimate target. Funds only change hands if a project has reached its minimum once it hit its end date. This means you only need to carry out your project and deliver rewards if you achieve this minimum target. We recommend setting the minimum at the smallest amount you need to complete your project and successfully deliver rewards. You can still set a bigger project target as well! Most projects receive considerably more than their minimum!
Before your project is published, you must submit an application form to the Office of Advancement. This application form will help you layout your project and think about all the things you need to do to make it a success. As part of the application, one of our team members will be in contact to meet you and dicuss the project in more detail. At this meeting we can give you tips and hints to get you crowdfunding ready. The application form PDF can by found below by clicking on 'Crowdfunding application form'. Get in touch to be sent a word doc version. A one hour training session will then be offered to walk you through the platform, discuss your communication plan, content, and goals. This is also your opportunity to ask any additional questions before setting up your project online.
We cover the costs of the platform. The fees charged by PayPal are 2.6% + 30c for donations made within Australia, and 3.6% + 30c for International donations. If your project project achieves its minimum target by its completion date, then you get the value of your pledges less the processing fees. No pledges are processed until the campaign ends and the minimum amount has been achieved. Macquarie University will distribute the funds to the respective project.
We'll give you the tools, training and guidance for you to raise funds and help make your project a success. Please don't hesitate to contact us at email@example.com or call (02) 9850 1357 to talk through your ideas.
